šļø Iām launching a podcast ā and itās not what you think.
When I speak with people about AI in the workplace, I seem to encounter everything from fear to optimism to suspicion. But most conversations seem to be focused on what we might lose: jobs, relevance, human connectionā¦
Most of us seem to be imagining a world where the bots take over, and thereās a doomsday tone to it.Ā
Thereās a good reason for that. There is such a rush from the companies developing AI to be the first to market that Iām not sure thereās a whole lot of thought going into the implications and potential unintended consequences.
I think itās time we flipped the script.Ā
Itās time we started imagining a world where humans are at the center, and the bots are supporting a vision weāve created.Ā
This isnāt just being shaped by the tech companies. Every leader and every person in an organization is making decisions, big and small, that are shaping this disruption.Ā
But hereās what I keep seeing: Organizations are scrambling to plug in AI tools, but theyāre missing a bigger opportunity.Ā
As humans, we have unique capabilities around creativity, empathy, collaboration, and connection. Yet in most organizations we treat people like robots ā we keep ourselves siloed, we clock in and clock out, and use control and compliance to manage people.
We need to shift the conversation to: what does it look like to optimize for what humans do best, and strategically outsource the rest to AI in a thoughtful way?
Thatās the conversation Iām starting with Optimized for Humans.
